Welcome to Conference - well... Almost...
This is identical to the email that was sent out to all registered delegates on Friday 09/07 @ 2am
If you are reading this then congratulations on your registration to what will most definitely be one of the best weeks of this millennium!
This has in it essential information for transport to the Accommodation from the Airport, Registration Day, what to bring (possibly the most important of the all) and some general info.
Travel from Airport
A taxi between the city and Airport costs approximately $20.00 with a travel time of around 20 minutes. Just ask them to head to UniSA City West Campus on North Terrace (then follow the map from the link below).
Alternatively the J1 or J2 bus can be caught from outside the airport. Get off at stop E1 on Currie Street in the city (bus stop is just near Hudson's Coffee shop). Travel time is approximately 30 minutes, with an approximate cost of under $5.00.
It is a 5 minute walk (approximately) from bus stop E1 on Currie Street to the accommodation. Feel free to drop your bags off at your hotel or head straight to registration. Keep in mind there are two Oaks buildings (Horizons and Embassy) but they are next to each other so check which one you are in by asking your Delegate Representative (who received an email with the information) or check at Registration.

Registration Day
Registration will be held at UniSA in Room N (the Student Lounge) which faces North Terrace
Click here to see a Google Map of where Registration is
(And here's a downloadable UniSA Map just in case... You're going to "N")
As per the website ~ www.ALSAConference.com.au ~ registration starts at 9am (for those flying in early) and closes at 3pm. If you know you will not be here on time to make it to registration or if you are arriving on another day please contact Efti - 0428154934 - when you arrive (not before as there is nothing she can do for you until you arrive).
During the registration day, delegates will have the opportunity to:
- Sign up for the Equity Breakfast
- At a small cost of only $5.00 students have the opportunity to attend this full hot breakfast with the honourable Justice Robyn Layton of the Supreme Court as a speaker for the morning.
- You can purchase tickets for this via our website by following this link ~ CLICK HERE TO BUY DAY TRIPS ~ or by just waiting until registration day... But hurry as tickets are limited to only 240 people.
- Pick up and Purchase
- During registration day you will be able to pick up already purchased merchandise - pub crawl t-shirts, ALSA undies and jumpers - BUT you will also be given the opportunity to purchase some on the day so make sure you bring along some cash in order to do so. That said you can still purchase them online, just follow the link ~ CLICK HERE TO BUY MERCHANDISE
- Pub crawl - this is sure to be one of the biggest nights of the week and a great chance to see some great local pubs! To be involved, you need to buy a shirt (this is your 'ticket' and costs $20) and this will entitle you free entry to all pubs and drinks specials all night (no beer, wine or spirits over $5!). Buy your tshirt HERE or you can pick one up at registration!
What to bring
- Weather is set to be between 14-17 degree during the day and 5-12 during the night (there may be showers)
- Specifics for events:
- Opening/Closing Gala
- This event is a black tie event.
- Guys: You'll need to dust off those suits and iron your shirts! A tux or bow tie is not required but a tie and jacket are.
- Girls: You'll need to pick out your most gorgeous evening gowns.
- Cocktail Evening
- This is pretty self explanatory; cocktail dress!
- Angels and Demons Themed night
- This is a great opportunity to showcase your creativity. Traditionally the ALSA themed night has been one of the most entertaining nights of all as people get dressed up and go all out to be better than the person next to them
- Rubik's Cube party
- As you would be aware from the many frivolous attempts at solving one in your youth, the Rubik's cube has six sides and six corresponding colours: Blue, Green, Red, Orange, Yellow, and White.
- For the ALSA Conference Rubik's Cube party you need to come dressed in as many of these colours as possible. Your goal will be to finish the party wearing only one of these colours, thereby solving the puzzle. To achieve this goal, you will be expected to exchange items of clothing with other guests.
- Equity Breakfast and Competitions Grand Finals
- Neat casual dress is acceptable
Competitions Briefing
- Competitors will be required to attend the Competitions Briefing from 3-4pm on the Monday. This will include tours of the relevant campuses, locations of the Comps HQs, regulations for dropping off and collecting submissions, etc. and is essential for all Competitors. You will be informed of the location of this Briefing at registration.
General Information
- Guests are required to place a $100 bond on each room when they check in to cover any expenses. The easiest way is by credit card so have one available!
- Lanyards will be required for all events and after parties so make sure you have it on you at all times.
- Check in at the hotels will start at 2pm
